Waste Water Recycling

Waste Water Treatment involves the application and design to recycle or recover industrial or commercial waste water.

Water as a viable resource is becoming scarcer and the importance of recycling and reusing water is becoming a more prominent responsibility across all industry sectors.

AWS utilises innovative and technically proven ideas and systems when tackling any Water Recycling and water reclamation challenges. Every Waste Water Treatment Plant is site specific; and is custom made to suit the specific situation and meet required performance criteria. AWS utilises various water treatment techniques in meeting waste water treatment challenges. These techniques are varied and methods utilised range from simple media filters and high flow sediment filters; to systems utilising MF/ UF filters; clarifiers; Flocculants; DAF Units; flat sheet membranes; Aerobic Bio Reactors; Centrifuges; just to name a few.

Sewerage Treatment Plants (STP)

STP systems specifically address the biological breakdown of human waste or effluent.

AWS primarily targets STP systems of a commercial nature; being primarily for communities or camps of 20 plus people. Our waste water treatment solutions include design, construction and supply of containerised or packaged waste water and Sewerage Treatment Plants (STP) for both urban and rural locations. Our containerised STP systems for onsite installation; utilise an initial balance tank; anaerobic stage; followed by an aerobic stage and final filtration of the effluent; utilising MBR (Membrane Bio Reactors) technology; UF filtration systems; or simple sediment filter systems; with final disinfection and final discharge to reticulation or dust suppression.

AWS manufacturers containerised MBR or MF/UF Plants which are readily deployed to site requiring minimal installation and commissioning. Treated effluent from MBR or MF/UF meets the highest compliance standards set in the “Guidelines for Use of Recycled Water in WA”.

Reuse of recycled or recovered wastewater can be used in a variety of applications such as:

  • Surface reticulation
  • Process and construction water
  • Dust suppression
  • Wash down water
  • Cooling tower make up water
  • Industrial use
  • Limited internal use in multi dwellings

Our STP systems will treat the effluent to Class A classification and are compliant with all Australian guidelines as well as meeting minimum EPA regulations for environmental discharge.

Containers are:

  • 20 foot in length: 80 - 100 person treatment ability
  • 40 Foot in length: 160 – 200 person treatment ability

Containers can be above ground or partially buried. All systems utilise electrical control cabinets fitted with PLC and HMI programming communicating plant performance at all times.

The unique design with AWS STP systems is the technologically advanced aerobic stage of the plant.

Aerobic Process

Standard STP consist of an anaerobic stage and aerobic stage filtration or evaporation stage.

The anaerobic stage is usually the first tank, which is used to equalise the surges in inflows and allow the effluent to start accumulating and breaking down. The aerobic stage is the second stage where air is added to stimulate microbe activity. In most cases, microbes in solution form are added to the tank or pond along with the air to stimulate the breakdown of the effluent and allow undigested sludge to be minimised. Due to their inability to replicate themselves, microbes are required to be constantly dosed into the system and air diffused throughout the water as they require air to live and the waste is their food source to convert into energy for themselves.

The third stage is filtration of the remaining cleaned water.

In nature, microbes are used to decompose dead material until they are returned to the ecosystem. All microbes require is moisture, oxygen, ambient temperature and waste to convert into energy to survive. Microbes are the perfect solution as a natural process in any STP.

Our aerobic process utilises a technologically innovative and revolutionary system which we have named the “Biocleaner” system.

Product Information

The “Biocleaner” system is revolutionary, breakthrough technology that harnesses the power of nature to treat all types of organic waste. This technology has gone through years of research and development in the United States.

Unlike other biological treatment systems, which require regular application of microbes, the Biocleaner constantly produces its own microbes, eliminating the need to add new microbes every day.  The Biocleaner is so powerful that it can break down waste so that there is no organic sludge waste and can treat waste at the fastest rate and with the smallest footprint compared to other systems. The treatment tank is filled with microbes enabling an efficient breakdown of all organic waste; including oil and grease. No organic sludge is produced; eliminating the need to for sludge handling or removal; saving a significant amount of time and money.  Sludge Handling costs typically average 90% of your STP expenses.

The Bio Cleaner process is also an environmentally friendly technology because methane is not produced and electricity consumption is very low.  Instead of methane, which is 21 times worse, the Biocleaner converts the waste into carbon dioxide as a greenhouse gas.

The reaction that occurs (Aerobic – CO2):

C6H12O6 + 6O2 -> 6CO2 + 6H2O

Reaction (Anaerobic – Methane):

C6H12O6 -> 3CO2 + 3CH4

Another benefit of the Biocleaner is that odours will be significantly minimized and isolated.  The microbes are all-natural and have not been genetically modified.   They are safe from pathogens or from risk of mutation.

The Biocleaner is a complete biological treatment system.  In nature, microbes are used to decompose dead material until they are returned to the ecosystem.  Likewise, the Biocleaner uses natural microbes to treat wastewater and covert it towards its original form.  The microbes are in a special patented immobilized state in the form of media.  The media is a ceramic that houses immobilized microbes.  Immobilized state means that the microbes are dormant or hibernating.  When media or microbes have oxygen and nutrients available, it then activates or awakens and will start multiplying.  It is the newly produces microbes that will occupy the entire tank and treat the wastewater to high standards. The microbes use the waste as their food source or where it gets its nutrients.  The Biocleaner also delivers a very efficient amount of Oxygen to the water by way of aeration grids; producing micro-bubbles with a larger surface area that enables a higher oxygen exchange of dissolved oxygen in the water. This enables the microbes to have a good source of oxygen needed to flourish. The Biocleaner is a natural, cost effective, and fast method of treating waste water.
